It’s another season for markets and fairs for design lovers. If you’re thinking of going to one, we would definitely recommend planning a trip to the London Design Festival! Yes, it’s a festival and appropriately named so as three popular design events are happening within the week from 14th – 22nd of September. Here, we’ve compiled a list of what to expect and how to prepare for this exciting affair.

So what is the London Design Festival?

Well, it’s an annual event that celebrates and promotes London to be the design capital of the world. During this week, the city will be riddled with amazing art installations, fairs and design events broken over different Design Districts. London Design Fair

First on our list to check out is the London Design Fair. Located in one of the city’s trendiest spot of Shoreditch, the four-day event showcases the latest interior trends with over 550 brands from over 400 countries. The fair is held in 26 Hanbury Street F Block, Truman Brewery, London E1 6QR in the Old Truman Brewery where the three-floor levels are filled with independent designers, established brands, international country pavilions, features and exhibitions.

Italy: Italian Loft

Design Junction

Next up is Design Junction, returning to King’s Cross this year, is a design show full of undiscovered brands with most forward-thinking furniture, lighting & accessories of design. 2019 will see the biggest Design Junction event to date having 150 brands and the addition of new designers and spectacular installations surrounding the place.

100% Design

100% design is the largest and longest-running design trade event for industry professionals in the UK. If you need to source for new and innovative world-leading products, this is the place to go to. The event features a great exhibitors list from the upcoming to the classics and the talks programme and bespoke installations are unmatched. If you are a design professional, this is the event you wouldn’t want to miss.

How to prepare?

London Design Festival is a jam-packed event full of creative inspiration and adventures. It’s very easy to get overwhelmed by the many events and Design Districts showcasing the very best of design. A top tip would be is to plan your whole journey and phase yourself. Pick out the ones that interest you the most and go from one Design district to another preferably the ones that are beside or close to each other. Best way to go around the city is through the many public transportations they have such as the tube or bus and with the use of the Oyster Card you can easily tap your way to your desired destination. London is rich in different types of culture and is brimming with various cafés, restaurants and food market, so if you’re already feeding your mind with creativity, spoil your appetite too with lots of amazing food to choose from.
