Apple TVs series ‘Home’ isn’t your average design show. It looks at the design of homes with a focus on the impact these spaces have on the people that live in them. It provides a brilliant insight into the testbed of new ideas by visionaries who are willing to challenge conventional concepts.
Episode 1 meets the Solvarm family, living in Sweden, and what they call their Naturhus. With a number of challenges and changes in their growing family, what started as a straightforward log cabin, becomes a space and environment which has had a huge effect on their lives.
Struggling to find a way to have their eco-home recognised and approved in Sweden, they challenged the inherent systems which exist in the country, to make them better and more sustainable.
As an offshoot of their build, the family have come to recognise both the mental and physical health benefits which have been borne out of this home design. It has helped to alleviate some of the symptoms for their autistic son while allowing the family as a whole to thrive and grow.
