TGI… SUNDAES

IN SEARCH FOR THE QUIRKIEST ICE CREAM PARLOURS IN DUBLIN

We can all agree that an absolute must for blessed summer weather is a good ice cream. Much like the number of burger and wing joints that have opened everywhere, ice cream parlours have joined in with their fun facade and interior design and of course, experimental ice cream flavours that are totally Instagram worthy. Here are our five favourites to hopefully feed into your cravings.

#1 – Teddy’s

Let’s start with some pure nostalgia, that is, Teddy’s originally based on Windsor, Dun Laoghaire with other locations now open. The facade sported a nautical theme for years and now they have rebranded themselves to a beige pastel colour palette that could have been taken straight from a Wes Anderson film. As for the 99, it has stayed the same and rightfully so.

#2 – SCOOP PARLOUR

Truly representing the nautical theme is Scoop Parlour located in Ranelagh – 22 Sandford Rd, Rathmines, Dublin 6 and the other on Aungier Street. Their facade is decorated with fun graphics and their canopy with funky patterns that translates to the variety of ice cream types they have. Cone, cup or be it sundae form, presentation and colour combos are always on point.

#3 – THREE TWENTY ICE CREAM

Just opened recently is Three Twenty Ice Cream Lab right on Drury Street – 30 Drury St, Dublin, D02 DW66. Their shop design style looks almost clinical with the stark white paint used over the existing brick walls.  In saying that, it ties into the lab tricks they do when preparing their ice cream. The giant singular and angled blue stripe on their white facade is hard to miss. Creme Brulee ice cream though, yumm.

#4 – ARCTIC STONE

Arctic Stone located at Blackrock Market – Unit 82 Blackrock Market, 19A Main St, Blackrock, Co. Dublin, A94 C8Y1, let me say, has the coolest stall for being inspired by polar ice caps in the Arctic. The cool blue LED strip light surrounding it makes the whole hand rolled ice cream at -30° experience even more effective. The stainless steel and jagged pattern of tiles that clad their counter adds that cold sharpness to the whole look.

#5 – GINO’S GELATO

It’ll be crazy of us not to include Gino’s Gelato! Located in many locations for the obvious reason that they have been a fan favourite for many since day one. They introduced the public to that striking ceiling feature that will grab anyone’s attention. Their gelato certainly brings happiness to many but having to eat it underneath that rainbow ceiling adds to that sense of joy.
