CES 2021 Highlights

Highlights from CES 2021 – The biggest tech event in the calendar.

With CES taking place the first week of January in Las Vegas, Nevada, this year was somewhat different as it was the first year it went all-digital.

With innovation and insights aplenty, these are our stand out products from this year’s all-digital CES 2021…

#1 – LG Displays New Transparent TV

LG’s look into the future of displays takes current OLED tech and adds a transparent dimension to it, offering 40% transparency even when displaying video.

They imagine the TV sitting at the end of a bed, raising slightly to display information or fully to display video content.

It remains to be confirmed if and when this tech will reach the consumer market but nonetheless, it gives an exciting peek to the future of digital display and the potential uses, windows on public transport, architectural glazing for the home and commercial applications among others.

“Transparent OLED is a technology that maximizes the advantages of OLED and can be used in various places in our daily lives, from stores, shopping malls, and architectural interiors to autonomous vehicles, subway trains, and aircraft,” Jong-sun Park, LG Display’s senior vice president and head of commercial business, said in a statement. “It will grow into a next-generation display that can change the existing display paradigm.”

#2 – Lasso Loop Recycling

The Lasso Loop Recycling unit is a miniature industrial recycling facility… for your home!

It is designed to fit into your kitchen with the same connection as your dishwasher and it essentially replaces your green waste bin where everything is mixed together.

“Unlike your current curbside recycling bin, which jumbles bottles, tins, plastics and paper together, Lasso produces recycled materials of a far higher quality than its industrial cousins. Used glass, plastic and metals can then be manufactured into goods of the same or similar value.”

This is currently under development but the potential and benefits are amazing.

#5 – Kohler Stillness Bath

If you’re a fan of taking a soak after a tough day, you could do worse than sinking into this beauty of a bath! It’s one of our favourite product announcements from CES 2021.

Inspired by Japanese forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku, the Stillness Bath is designed to create an immersive experience to help “relax the mind, soothe the body, and renew the spirit,” according to Kohler.

The water fills from the bottom of the bath and overflows onto the wooden base surrounding it. Add soothing lights and fog and you’ve got yourself potentially one of the most relaxing bathing experiences.

This level of luxury doesn’t come cheap, think small car and you’re not far off the mark! See the below link for more info:
